Cindy Bowman, RDH
Cindy is a native of Claremont, graduating from Bunker Hill High School in 1987. She has worked in the dental field since 1990. She was a dental assistant for seven years before completing her Associates of Applied Sciences degree at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She began working for Dr. Sowers Sr. in the fall of 1997 and feels blessed to have worked in the practice for over 20 years.
She has two children, Emily and Cody. She has three grandchildren, Khai Maddyx, Banx and Jay who are the joys of her life. In her spare time she enjoys camping, hiking and going to the beach with her family.
Yecenia Torres, Dental Assistant
Yecenia attended the Lake Norman Dental Assisting School where she received her certificate in dental assisting. In 2017, she joined Dr. Sowers’s practice where she feels very blessed to be working. Her skills and compassion in providing excellent care in both English and Spanish help our patients to feel at ease during their procedures.
Yecenia lives in Lincolnton with her husband, Alberto and fur baby Bruno. She enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors and shopping.
Kayla Mosteller, Dental Assistant
Kayla was born and raised in Newton, NC. She attended Newton-Conover High School and graduated in 2017. She received her Dental X-Ray and Nitrous Certification in 2016 at Lake Norman Dental Assisting School.
Kayla began her career as a sterilization tech and became part of Dr. Sowers’ office in 2020 as a dental assistant.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, babysitting and making crafts. She is married and has a dog named Dipper.
Kara Cook, Front Desk
Kara was born and raised in Hickory. She attended Fred T. Foard High School and graduated in 2010. She was a nanny for several years before becoming a dental assistant. Kara earned her dental assisting certifications from the Lake Norman dental assisting school in 2016.
Kara became part of Dr. Sowers’s team in August of 2016. She loves interacting with her patients and enjoys the people she works with.
In Kara’s free time she enjoys spending time with her son, family and friends.
April Smith, RDH Office Manager
April grew up and lives in Alexander County. She has twin daughters. She graduated CVCC with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She joined Dr. Sower’s office in 2000 as a part time hygienist.
She is now the office manager and handles billing and insurance.
Tonya Smith, RDH
Tonya is a Catawba County native and graduated from CVCC Dental Hygiene school in 2006. She is driven to provide a personable experience along with the highest quality of care possible. Tonya enjoys building relationships with her patients and educating them on the importance of oral health.
She enjoys antiquing, baking and hiking in her free time. She has two adult children with her husband, Todd.
